Baseball Games on Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day inevitably falls during baseball season. While some moms are at a spa or eating a special Mother’s Day brunch, you’ll find the baseball moms in the bleachers! There is a long history of games falling on Mother’s Day. This happens so frequently that in 2013 Major League Baseball approved pink stitching and pink printing on baseballs and pink bats to be used in MLB games on Mother’s Day. Ways to Celebrate Mom at the Game
1. Mom themed Music
During warm ups, player announcements, or as the batters walk up to the plate, play some “mom” themed tunes! There are so many classic and new fun songs with mom in the mix.

- “Mama Mia” -From Mama Mia the Soundtrack
- “Mama Told Me” – Three Dog Night
- “Mama’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Cowboys”- Willie Nelson
- “Mother”- Florence and the Machine

- “Song for Mama”- Boys to Men
- “Oh, Mother Of Mine”- The Temptations
- “The Best Days “ – Taylor Swift
2. Mother’s Day Questionnaire

3. Flowers for Mom
Flowers are the ultimate Mother’s Day gift. For the team, purchase a dozen roses and let players hand one stem each to their mother just before the event starts as a dedication to the moms! Include a ribbon in a team color and a short handwritten note to make it extra special.
4. Morning Coffee and Pastries
If you have the early game, make a stop to pick up pastries and a carafe of coffee for the moms. Starbucks, Panera, and Krispy Kreme offer these coffee boxes that serve groups of 8-10. You will want to call about an hour before pick-up to ensure the coffee is brewed and ready to go. Cups, creamers, and sugar should be included. The moms will love to start the day with this kind (and caffeinated) gesture.
5. Family Photo Booth
There is nothing a mom loves more than a photo with the kids! Make sure to get a snapshot she can take home during a baseball game on Mother’s Day! Bring a Polaroid camera for a fun game-day snapshot of mom and her favorite player! Bring a Mother’s Day sign or backdrop to add a special touch for the photo.
6. Swag for Mom
No baseball mom shows up to the ballpark with just her purse. You’ll know a baseball mom by her wagon, cooler, or fun team gear. From the best bleacher seat to baseball jewelry, shop all the best gifts for sports mom here!
7. Team Spirit Surprise
Surprise the moms by organizing a team spirit cheer dedicated to them. Kids can practice a short chant or dance that honors their moms and perform it after the game. It’s a fun way to show love and gratitude for everyone to enjoy.
8. Mom vs. Player
It’s fun to do a mother versus player game on or around Mother’s Day. Depending on the age of the players (and the level of competition the moms want) you can adjust the game to make it fun for everyone! Consider a game of Tball, baseball tennis (batting with a tennis racquet and pitching a tennis ball), or have the players play with their nondominant hand.
9. Afternoon pick me up
Usually the moms plan and bring team snacks or team goodie bags. On Mother’s Day, make sure to give them the day off! For games later in the day, have someone bring the moms an afternoon treat! Consider ordering smoothies, Sonic Drinks, or other favorite drink in your area for the special women who do so much!
10. A card that says it all
Sometimes, what mom really wants is a note of gratitude from the heart. These printable cards are the perfect place to tell Mom how you really feel and thank her for all she does!
