Fall Class Party Games
Start the party with a fun game to get everyone involved! For a fall-themed class party, pick a game that captures the essence of the season.
1. Pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe Tournament
Use oversized Tic-Tac-Toe boards and pumpkins to host a class-wide tic-tac-toe tournament. A large piece of cardboard covered in fall themed wrapping paper (or a fall-themed tablecloth) is the perfect backdrop for the tournament. Use real or faux orange and white pumpkins as the “X” and “O” pieces. Have the whole class cheer on the players in the final rounds. I made this board below out of cardboard and a halloween themed disposable table cloth. If you want to order a premade game, this is a great one!
2. Scarecrow Relay Race
This is such a fun game! The kids are sure to have a blast and if the teacher or room parent participates, they will be talking about it for the rest of the year. Divide the children into teams. Divide each team across the classroom, gym, or playground. Provide each team with a scarecrow costume. For the scarecrow costume you can use something as elaborate as an entire real scarecrow costume or as simple as an oversized flannel shirt and straw hat. Each team member must put on the costume, run to their teammates on the other side, and “hand-off” the costume to the next player by removing the scarecrow costume and passing it to the next participant to wear. The first team to get through all the players wins! This game is a hit with kids and also encourages teamwork.
Snacks for the Party
Snacks are a favorite part of any class party! For a fall-themed event, there are plenty of delicious options that kids will love. When it’s time for the party snack let kids get cozy at their seat with these cute fall themed coloring placemats. Here are some snack ideas that are both festive and easy to prepare/ transport to school:
1. Pumpkin Themed Popcorn Bar
Popcorn is always a hit for a kid’s class party! I love a popcorn bar because it’s easy to customize for the season or occasion. Kids can also choose their “toppings” based on health concerns such as food allergies making it a great, customizable option for a group. Some fun fall-themed additions are:
- Fall Candy Corn/ Candy Pumpkin Mix
- Pumpkin and Bat Shaped Pretzels
- Reeces Pieces Candy that already come in perfect colors for fall
2. Apple Slices with Caramel Dip
Apples are synonymous with fall, and serving them with a side of caramel dip is a simple and tasty treat. Slice up a variety of apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, etc.) and offer a small cup of caramel dip with each serving. You can also provide other dipping options like peanut butter or yogurt for a healthier alternative. This is a great classroom snack that’s easy to transport to the school.
3. Pumpkin Muffins with Juice or Milk
Pumpkin muffins are a great, easily portable snack and a great way to incorporate the flavors of fall into your party. You can bake them in advance and serve with pre-packaged box of milk or apple cider. For an extra touch, decorate the muffins with fall-themed cupcake toppers or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Easy Crafts
Crafts are a wonderful way to keep kids entertained while giving them something to take home as a memento of the party. Fall Leaves, Halloween inspired crafts, or other harvest inspired art projects are perfect. Here are some easy and fall-themed crafts that are perfect for kids aged 5-10:
1. Leaf Rubbing Art
Leaf rubbing is a classic fall craft that is simple and memorable for kids! Provide a variety of leaves, white paper, and crayons. Children can place a leaf under the paper and rub the crayon over it to reveal the leaf’s texture and shape. They can experiment with different colors and leaf types to create a beautiful collage. For a detailed tutorial on this craft , you can read this post.
2. Leaf Refrigerator Magnets
You could start this fun fall craft by asking students to bring in leaves from their yard or take a walk around the school to collect leaves! Kids can then use contact paper to “laminate” the leaves and add googly eyes on the back for the cutest fall craft. Have a teacher or other adult hot glue a magnet to the back (these small adhesive magnets are also great and easy to use!)
Recipe for the Perfect Fall Class Party
I really enjoy getting to be with my kids during their class parties. It’s so fun to meet their friends and see how they interact with their peers! When I first started helping with them, I spend a little too much time on Pinterest and felt overwhelmed with how many elaborate, expensive ideas are out there.
Planning a fall class party for children aged 5-10 doesn’t have to be stressful! With these ideas for games, snacks, and crafts, you can create a fun and festive event that everyone will enjoy. My preference is to stick to a simple class party outline whenever I am in charge of a class party which is:
- 1 Game
- 1 Snack
- 1 Craft
You can always do more, but by checking these 3 boxes you have a complete class party and a simple plan for those in charge. This checklist can be used for variety of parties or themes such as a Winter Holiday Party, Valentine’s Day Party, or End of the School Year Party.
