4th of July Bike Parade

I grew up doing a small town 4th of July Bike Parade almost every summer. Looking back it was super low key. We taped small flags with wooden poles to our bike handlebars with masking tape and tried to weave red, white and blue paper streamers between the wheel spokes. We treated our bikes like master pieces and spent hours perfecting the decorations. It was always such a fun way to start the holiday. It was been so fun to share this tradition with our kids. When they were little we would put them in a cute patriotic onesie and clip a flag to their stroller. The next summer they shared a wagon with friends or cousins. Now they are full on bikers and are living their best lives 4th of July Bike Parade lives.

I’ve rounded up some of our favorite bike parade gear and decor. Trade the paper streamers for this Red, white and blue star garland or even better just get the whole kit for a few dollars here Bike decorating kit . There are so many adorable kids Americana looks for summer. This is my favorite pick for girls (Girls Americana Top)- -I can’t with the ricrkack detail! This simple Stripe Shirt will get lots of wear long after the holiday. If I still had a baby that would fit into it I would have preordered the Sweetest Patriotic Bubble. Little English usually does a patriotic appliqué dress, shirt or bubble and they are always my favorite ! Just add Patriotic Sunglasses and this American Flag Hat (which also comes is light pink) and you’re set.

It usually doesn’t feel too hot when you are loading up the bikes. After bike and wagon schlepping and at least one guaranteed decorating meltdown I promise everyone will be sweating and sticky but also happy and together! Bring lots of water, don’t forget a Sunhat for yourself, this Zinc Sunscreen is throwback that will remind you of your own childhood, and this Stroller/ Bike/ Wagon Fan will keep the littlest bike paraders cool all morning.
