Cute Dresses For Tweens

I am quickly learning it can be tricky it can be to shop for tweens. After a moment to grieve that I will no longer be shopping for smocked dresses or Peter Pan collars I started looking around for cute dresses for tweens. There are actually a lot more cute options that I thought. You do have to wade though some side cut outs strapless options and on the other end of the spectrum the the larger versions of dresses with appliqués they wore when they were four. There are many cute dresses that strike a balance between the older girl style that she wants and a cute look I am on board with. There are some great options from classics like J. Crew or Vineyard Vines. There are also some really cute online boutiques that surprised me. Hayden Girls and Shop The Mint were the two boutiques with reasonably priced options your tween with love.

Where to Shop for Tween Dresses

  • Gap: For Jeans and other basics it is great. Gap can run a little hot or cold as far as tween dresses. This fall they have a cute collaboration with LoveShackFancy that is really cute and affordable!
  • Boden: I have always loved Boden. As my daughter gets older she feels like all the bright colors and animal appliqués are too “babyish”. They now have a Teen & Older Girls section. The quality is great and this season they have several cute ruffle skirts she likes.
  • Hayden Girls: I recently found out about Hayden Girls and they do have some really cute dresses and skirts. It is very reasonably priced and a good options for quickly growing girls who may only wear something for one season
  • Mango: I like the tween clothes from Mango better than some other fast fashion brands. They size up to 14 then also have a Teen section with larger sizing and a more grown up look.
  • Shop The Mint Girls: This is another adorable online boutique. They Size up to girls 14 and you can’t beat the price.
  • Vineyard Vines: Great quality and a classic look- what more can you ask for? If you have multiple daughters or someone to hand things down to it is always with it.
  • Dillards: Dillards has several really nice brands of for girls this one called A Loves A has some cute dresses and tops with a boho look and the GB Brand Dresses are really cute for nicer occasions.
  • J. Crew: They tend to have similar style dresses each season. Their Holiday and Summer dresses are always beauty and are something moms and girls can agree upon and often have coordinating looks for sibling. I love to check here first when looking for family photo shoot outfits.
  • J. Crew Factory: Don’t overlook this! If you live near or drive by a J. Crew Factory story it will be with the trip in. The online returns are a little tricky so shop here in person.

The Extras

My daughter still wears biker shorts under dresses (She wants to look older but still doesn’t hesitate to jump into a game of tag or comb the monkey bars) These from Hanna Andersson are thick (some are too thin and get to be see through) and they are super soft.

These bras and underwear from Bleuet are comfortable and come in a variety of colors and style so there won’t be any straps or patterns showing through.
